• All executive have agreed to continue in the positions held
• There were no objections from the league members
Field
• CRD has agreed to let us use the field again
• Must finalize agreement
• There will be a fee (unknown amount)
• Parking lot on Cadillac (side entrance) and the Wang Building parking lot
Schedule
• Start Date Sun. March 9, 2008
• Playoffs most after Sunbowl if 7 teams
Dues
• TBD
• Estimate $750 (for 6 or 7 teams) – includes ¾ of insurance cost
• See Guidelines update regarding fee structure
Referees
• Working on it… Dale approx ½ of the games
• Intend to contact Sheldon and UVic…. other suggestions?
• It is recommended that the League purchase ref vests in 2009
• It is recommended that the League is to have 2 paid refs in 2009
Miscellaneous
• Val from the Duncan Powers needs a QB. None from the VWFL are available, but can absorb any players if their team disbands
• Bean Bags needed… Rhianna volunteered
• Melissa is taking over the website. Submit write-ups, photos, etc. to victoriawomensfootball@hotmail.com and it will be forwarded to her
• Lindsay will provide spray paint to line the field
• Maria is going to submit the final fall statistics
Fundraising
• Lindsay will look into selling a skid of chicken fundraiser
• Tanya will look into setting up a poker tournament
• Anne-Marie will consider organizing a League car wash
• Tara and Steph will follow up with Drew regarding running the 50/50at a Salmon King game
Guidelines Updates
• Flag Requirements – Voted 100% YES to adopt Duncan’s flag size requirements. There is a women in Duncan that makes the flags and metal ringed belts
• Fines Update – Documentation for fines that had been voted in has been located and the Guidelines have been updated
• Fee Structure – Voted 100% YES to adopt a user based fee schedule. Voted 100% YES for the structure and details to be finalized at the Team Rep and Exec meeting
Rebels Scrimmage
• For the Rebels Alumni game Jul 5th or 12th it is proposed that the Victoria and Cowichan Leagues have a scrimmage during halftime
• The primary focus is to promote women’s football
Vancouver Island Women’s Football League
• This is a proposed parent league to Victoria, Cowichan, Parksville, and Nanaimo
• The purpose is to increase game exposure and grow the game from the grass roots
• The intent is to combine the experience and strengths of the Victoria and Cowichan leagues
• Future goals of the League would be to:
o Develop a league in the Parksville and Nanaimo area
o Spring 2009 – Playing at new Langford sports centre
o Host the 2010 National Women’s Touch/Flag Championship’s
Sunbowl
• 25th Anniversary of the Cowichan League
• June 23, 2008 is the anniversary of the Sunbowl Tournament
• June 21 – 23, 2008. Be prepared to play Friday night games
Gaming Grant Application
• Tara and Steph are preparing the paperwork. Support will be provided by Wanda and Crystal
• The deadline is May 31st
In memory of Carrie Lorimer
• Patches – Cost to be absorbed by the league. Available no later than end of February. For all members of the league and Bandits from Duncan
• Ari prepared a write-up for the website. It will be posted shortly
Clinics
• Victoria Clinic Sat March 1st
• Cowichan Clinic Sun March 2nd
• In Carrie’s memory 25% of proceeds from Victoria to go to the BC Cancer Society
• Pre-Register tonight with Cindy
• $15 includes lunch, a T-Shirt, a manual, and 2 tickets to the Rebel’s vs. Raiders game
• Bring a chair
• A taping demonstration will be taught by Maria from McKenzie Physiotherapy
