Victoria Holds off Cowichan at Rebel’s Alumni Scrimmage

This past July the Victoria and Cowichan leagues joined forces, and took sides, to promote women’s football.  The game took place during the half time during the Rebel’s Alumni game.  The league was show cased in a fast paced scrimmage with a rapid 3 possessions per side.

Despite very little practice time, Victoria managed to get a quick first on the initial play of the game; however, faced with a strong Cowichan defense were unable capitalize.  Cowichan responded with a good offensive series, finally pushing the ball to the 20 yard line before the scrimmage ended in a no score tie.

Both Victoria and Cowichan teams were fielded by players from their respective leagues, with Victoria coached by Terry Butler and Cowichan coached by Rory Kine.  Thanks to all the players below for coming out to help gain exposure for our great sport.  Thanks also to Lynn Stokes and Wanda Jones for organization and promotion.
