Annual General Meeting
Date: February 9, 2006

Elections
We held our annual elections and took nominations for the vacant positions. The results were as follows:
NEW President Wanda Jones (Xtreme)
NEW Vice President Lynn Stokes (+NRG)
Secretary Kim Banfield (Xtreme)
Treasurer Crystal Dunahee (Bulldogs)

Rebel's Support
Wanda has been in contact with Drew Finnerty (General Manager of the Victoria Rebels’ Football Association). Drew’s goal is to build the football community in Victoria, at all levels. Drew and Wanda are organizing FREE ADVERTISING on Kool FM to promote the Womens’ Flag Football League and the Rebels’ Football Association. We will have ‘radio spots’ (ie. Public Service Announcements) played on Kool FM to advertise the Football Clinic (see below) and the VWFL!

Football Clinic - March 4th
Wanda and Drew have organized a FOOTBALL CLINIC for players of all levels. The clinic will be led by ex-NFL and CFL players as well as Rebels’ Players and Coaches! There will be advertising on Kool FM and flyers dispersed throughout Victoria (at gyms, restaurants, community centres, schools) to ensure a significant turnout! The clinic will be on SATURDAY, MARCH 4th from 9-4pm, field to be determined. Once Drew has determined an appropriate location, I will e-mail a flyer to all members of the League with the info!

Insurance
As most of you are aware, we must have insurance to use city (ie. school) fields for our regular season. Unfortunately, it is required that we pay for insurance a year at a time. Due to the unexpected cancellation of our Fall Season last year, we are now responsible for last fall’s insurance premiums AND this season’s, (translation our league fees will be a bit higher).

Field
Crystal provided a list of potential (available) fields for our Spring Season. Kerri M. (Dragons) offered to visit and assess each of the fields to ensure we end up with the best one!

Schedule
Our Spring Season is scheduled to start March 19 and finish June 17th (playoffs and banquet). Once we have determined how many teams will be registered for the Spring Season, Lynn S. (VP) will make up the schedule.

Sunbowl
The ‘tournament of the year’, the SUNBOWL, will be held June 24th-25th. As usual, it will be held in Duncan at McAdam Park. Reserve your rooms (for June 23rd and 24th) at the Village Green Inn (across the highway from the fields) and book the Monday off work now!

Half-Time Scrimmage
Wanda has organized another half time scrimmage for the season opener of the Victoria Rebels’ Spring Season. Players from our league will ‘face-off’ against Duncan players to showcase their skills and bring attention to the League/sport. Details to follow…

Keep the Hope Alive
There will be a “Keep the Hope Alive” Dance to raise funds and awareness for Missing Children and Exploited Children across Canada. The dance will feature “That ‘70’s Band”; it will be held at the Esquimalt Recreation Centre at 8pm, Friday, March 25th.

Michael Dunahee Run
The Michael Dunahee Run will take place on March 27th, with registration at 9a.m., also at the Esquimalt Recreation Centre. Come out and support this important event!

New Email Account for VWFL
Leanne Ross (ND) has put together a hotmail account for our League. All correspondence regarding schedules, tournaments, league fees, clinics will come from this e-mail address. Feel free to send questions and comments to the inbox. It is checked frequently, by the Executive, and we will get back to you with answers…

Hotmail Account Administrator
Linda Shaw (+NRG) has offered to keep our hotmail account up to date, including new players’ contact info.

VWFL Website
Jen Blaikie (Xtreme) will be designing a website for the VWFL. The site will contain all important information including:

• Game schedules
• Contact information for each team
• Tournament information
• Rule & Regulations
• Patterns
• Etc

Jen is working on the website, the domain name will likely be: www.victoriawomensfootball.com
This site will be extremely useful in marketing and advertising our League. It will also be a valuable resource for new and veteran players to access any and all information regarding our League!

Next Meeting
We need to have another meeting to finalize what teams will be playing in the Spring Season, where we will be playing and the league fees. THIS MEETING WILL BE AT CRYSTAL’S HOUSE ON TUESDAY, Feb. 28th at 6pm. We must have at least ONE representative from each team attend the meeting. Also, there is a $200 deposit, per team, required at the meeting. This deposit will be put towards your team’s fees AND, teams who pay this deposit will have $50 deducted from their overall fees. Teams without at least one rep at the meeting will lose out on the $50 deduction AND be subject to a $25 fine.
